David Willat has been active in clinical practice since 1983, focusing on treating and evaluating injured workers. He has a thorough understanding of the workers’ compensation process and earned his Workers’ Compensation certification through the Insurance Education Association. He also completed the Division of Workers’ Compensation’s Self-Insurance Administrator’s examination.
In 1986, David Willat was a State-appointed Independent Medical Evaluator (IME) for the California Department of Industrial Relations, and since 1991, he has been a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME). In 2003, he was recognized by Governor Gray Davis as a subject matter expert for the Division of Workers’ Compensation for developing the original DWC Report Writing curriculum.
David Willat's background includes a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a master’s degree in public and judicial administration, and 29 years of experience in law enforcement. He is an adjunct instructor in the police academy for various legal and investigative subjects. Additionally, he is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) and is a medical-legal/forensic consultant for motor vehicle collision-related cases.
David Willat resides in Sonoma County with his wife, Linda. Their son is completing his PhD in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Michigan.
