Dr. Babak Samimi is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and joint reconstruction. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2000 with a degree in psychobiology. He went on to earn his M.D. from the UCLA School of Medicine in 2004 with honors in surgery.
Following medical school, Dr. Samimi completed a comprehensive orthopedic surgery internship and residency at the University of Southern California from 2004 to 2009. He has since become a nationally respected figure in orthopedic surgery, with expertise in advanced techniques for shoulder and knee repair, reconstruction, and cartilage restoration.
Dr. Samimi has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, contributed a book chapter on musculoskeletal trauma surgery, and presented widely at national conferences. He has trained numerous orthopedic surgeons through instructional courses and has developed original surgical techniques for ACL repair and posterolateral corner reconstruction — which he now teaches to colleagues across the U.S.
His academic contributions include serving as an adjunct clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the LAC+USC Medical Center, and he currently leads the Orthopedic Department for the West Covina Medical Center Podiatric Residency program. Dr. Samimi is an active member of multiple professional associations and is recognized for his excellence in treating complex shoulder and knee conditions.
