Brett A. Borah is a veteran attorney and Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law with over four decades of experience. He is the founding partner of the Law Office of Borah & Shaffer in Cupertino, California, where he has practiced since 2007, focusing exclusively on workers’ compensation law and legal education.
Mr. Borah earned his B.A. in Political Science and teaching credentials from the University of California, Berkeley, and his J.D. from UC San Francisco School of Law in 1979, where he also served as Student Body Vice-President. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1980 and has since been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. District Court, Northern District of California.
Brett has made significant contributions to the legal community through leadership roles, including Chair of the State Bar of California Workers’ Compensation Section, founding chair of the Santa Clara County Workers’ Compensation Attorneys Association, and member of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association Board of Governors for over 30 years. He has served as an arbitrator, grand jury foreman, and bar association president, and is a recipient of multiple awards including the Wiley Manuel Award for Pro Bono Services and Lawyer of the Year (2007–2025).
A sought-after lecturer and published author, Brett has contributed to several editions of California Workers’ Compensation Practice and regularly presents at legal seminars and conferences across California.
