John Rice

John is the principle in THE LIEN PROJECT, a practice focused on helping

Plaintiffs’ attorneys and their clients resolve medical liens and reimbursement issues in

their personal injury cases. John is also an active trial lawyer representing Plaintiffs in

personal injury matters. He often associates with other Plaintiffs counsels in cases to

address medical special damage issues. He has a special interest in representing

disabled Californians in disability rights actions.

John is a graduate of the University of Redlands (1986, B.A, Political

Science/History) and California Western School of Law (1992, Magna Cum Laude). A

member of the California Bar since 1992, he is a lifetime Member of Consumer

Attorneys of San Diego and a member of the Board of Directions from 2001 to 2018. He

is an active member of Consumer Attorneys of California.

John has presented at more than 150 continuing legal educations seminars for

Plaintiffs’ attorneys throughout the State of California. He has chaired the annual

CASD Lien Update Seminar since its inception in 2002. John has twice been

recognized with Achievement Awards from Presidents of the Consumer Attorneys of

San Diego for his efforts on behalf of the organization, (2000, 2009 and 2013). In

January 2010, John received the Consumer Advocate of the Year award from the

Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, acknowledging the efforts and achievement on

behalf of consumers.

John is committed to representing the interests of consumers. All cases, big

and small, receive the same attention.

He climbs rocks and drives old Volkswagen buses.
