Dr. Joshua Gordon attended medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He then trained in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) in Philadelphia. At UPenn, he had the privilege of learning directly from internationally recognized thought leaders.
Dr. Gordon went on to receive sub-specialty training in hand and microsurgery at the University of Washington in Seattle, surrounded once again by leading experts in the field and working to treat patients with severe hand injuries at the only level one trauma center in the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) region. Dr. Gordon brings to the practice state-of-the-art technique and extensive experience treating patients with all degrees of traumatic injury.
His clinical practice is based in San Francisco; his aim is to serve his community and provide the highest level of care regardless of case complexity. Dr. Gordon truly sees it as the highest honor and privilege to care for those who are sick and injured. As does his father, he focuses on elbow, forearm, wrist and hand injuries.
After entering private practice he has continued to enthusiastically participate in education, research and innovation, with the philosophy that this is the best way to improve the care available to his patients and give back to the next generation of surgeons, creating inter-generational advancement in his chosen specialty.
Dr. Gordon strives to serve as a leader in the field. He has worked on cutting edge research in orthopaedic care spanning topics from basic scientific discovery to surgical technique and device development. He completed two years of research at NIH. He has over 25 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and topical reviews and has presented regionally and nationally. He has served as the editor-in-chief of the University of Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Journal (UPOJ, https://upoj.org) and has been the recipient of several awards for patient care. His focus is on providing each of his patients with compassionate care that is at the vanguard of clinical excellence. In addition to his work in private practice and research, Dr. Gordon collaborates with other orthopaedic surgeons to deliver subspecialty orthopedic care to underserved communities around the world.
